Work First New Jersey

New Jersey’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program, Work First NJ, helps people secure employment and become self-sufficient through job training, education and work activities. WFNJ provides temporary cash assistance and many other support services to families, including financial assistance with child care costs.

WFNJ eligibility is determined by the Monmouth County Division of Social Services (MCDSS). If eligible, a parent is referred to Child Care Resources for their child care needs.  Child Care Resources assists WFNJ clients with finding child care and paying for it (under the WFNJ program).

Clients must be in an approved activity and obtain a referral from MCDSS. Our Subsidy Case Managers are trained to counsel each WFNJ participant about their child care options.
