Care in your home can consist of a relative or family friend taking care of your children. The provider can also be a nanny or an au pair. Nannies and au pairs are not individually regulated by the State of New Jersey and there are no official standards or regulations pertaining to in-home child care. It is important that parents who decide upon having a caregiver in their home that they agree to contract with the caregiver by establishing set hours, pay rate, discipline policies and regularly discuss the child’s routine.
Child Care Resources is limited in providing families with placement agencies for nannies or au pairs, but we can provide information and resources.
